In Sound Editing 101 we
learned how to make quick & easy changes to
Programs using the Front Panel. In Sound Editing
102 we're going to learn how to
"recycle" existing Programs by entering
Program Edit Mode (EDIT PROG) and swapping
Multisounds. Don't worry. This lesson will be
even easier than last. I'll be using the M1 as an
example but T-Series owners should have no
problem following along.
We'll start by recycling what is
probably the most famous M/T Series Program of
all time... Universe. Load in the factory patches
and choose Program number 00...Universe. T-Series
owners if you don't have this patch then simply
load in the M1's Factory patches. The M1 patches
will load into your synth.
M1 owners push the EDIT PROG
button and then the PAGE+ button twice. In the
lower left corner of the display you'll see
042:Lore. This is the Multisound that makes the
"water like" sound behind the Choir.
Press the A button and then the UP button 3 times
until the display reads WindBells. Play something
on the keyboard. You should notice a slight
change in the way the Program sounds.
If you want to keep this edit
press the 9 button, name the Program something
like Universe 2, and then save (WRITE) it to a
desired location. There... you've recycled a
Program, made it "your own", and in the
process saved a tree?
Here are some other recycling
suggestions...
Program 20: Dream Pad... Try
changing OSC2 from Digital 2 to Digital 4.
Program 40: Magician.... Try
changing OSC2 from Brass 2 to Brass 1.
Program 90: Zephyr... Try changing
OSC2 from Strings to Choir.
The point of all this is to
experiment. You'll no doubt come up with
something you can use... or even better...
something that inspires you!
